The Best Non Toxic Nail Polish Remover

Becoming vegan opened my eyes to all of the every day things that contain animal products, like gelatin in nail polish and nail polish removers. It’s crazy to think how many beauty products contain these things and as I become more educated about ingredients in both food and beauty, I care more about both animal by-product and toxic chemicals.

When I first found out about gelatin in nail polish remover I knew I needed to stop buying the cheap CVS brand and look for something better. I took to Amazon and found something better than I could’ve ever imagined: Aromatherapy nail polish remover from Marley Marie Naturals. A non-toxic, biodegradable nail polish remover free of acetone and alcohol, enriched with vitamins and essential oils, and of course, vegan and cruelty-free. Say what?! It sounds too good to be true, but seriously, it actually works so well! Lightly saturate a cotton pad with the remover, press it to each nail to get the oils to start breaking down the polish, and then gently scrub away your nail polish as you normally would.

Things I love about this nail polish remover: A little goes a long way, so even though it’s a bit pricier than your average nail polish remover, it’s worth it, one pad lasts for all ten nails, it comes off easily, the oils feel silky and luxurious, and maybe the best part, it doesn’t smell! The strong, nasty smell of nail polish remover is replaced with a light, calming scent of your choice. Since it’s “aromatherapy” nail polish remover, the essential oils give you a spa-like experience!

I have the Black Currant Vanilla scented remover, which I love, but I can’t wait to try out the other scents (Orange Ginger, Lavender Vanilla, and Eucalyptus Spearmint!)

Clear Skin with Tea Tree Oil

The Body Shop is one of my all time favorite brands for a lot of reasons: They’re cruelty-free, fair-trade, and many of their products are vegan (if not, it’s mostly because they contain honey.) One of my favorite products they carry is their Tea Tree line, for fighting acne. I’m always breaking out due to stress but these products do a great job to keep my skin clear and fight breakouts.

The squeaky clean scrub is my daily am cleanser to wake up and clean my skin, while the mask I only use once in a while if I need an extra blast. It’s got a cooling tingle, which can feel great but if your skin is sensitive I would recommend skipping the mask. And finally, the Tea Tree Oil which is used as a spot treatment! I apply it every night and morning after cleansing and moisturizing anywhere I have a current pimple or one attempting to show up. It works really well to get rid of blemishes fast (like, within a few days, or overnight if it hasn’t popped through yet)- and remember, don’t pop your pimples!!

YES to Tomatoes

YesToTomatoes

Yes to Carrots is one of my favorite drugstore brands with cruelty-free products. Specifically, the tomato line is the best for me because of my stressed-out-college-student skin, which breaks out easily. By now, I hope you know about the powerhouse that is charcoal and its ability to draw out impurities. I use this charcoal mud mask once or twice a week to detox my skin and combat acne. Bonus: The packaging is recycled, and it’s a 96% natural, paraben-free product. You can find this at CVS or Rite Aid for around $15 and if you’re struggling with pimples I highly recommend the Clear Skin Daily Clarifying Cleanser as well!
